Many students of Tae Kwon-Do may be unaware
of the story behind the introduction and development of the Korean art in
Afghanistan. The history of Tae Kwon-Do in this country can best be mapped
by following the martial art career of one man: Mr. Hed Mohammad Shirzai.

Hed
Mohammad Shirzai was born in a middle class family in Kabul, Afghanistan. Hed
Mohammad Shirzai completed his education in Habibia High Scholl in Kabul,
Afghanistan. He was 12, when he began his first T.K.D lessons in Habib Tae
kwon-Do training hall under the auspices of (HABIB MIYAR) the first I.T.F
black belt holder of Afghanistan in May 19/1986 after having received a black
belt and being a top black belt instructor. Mr. Shirzai opened the Asia T.K.D
club in Salang Waat Kabul, Afghanistan.
Shortly
Afterward, his fame soon spread around the capital and this brought a great
change in his life, later on he was more encouraged by friends and students
and paved. He way to open many I.T.F trainings halls in Kabul and around the
country as well.
On
November 6/1993 Mr. Hed Mohammad Shirzai founded Afghanistan National Tae
Kwon-Do Association. Mr. Shirzai has
been doing duty for Afghanistan I.T.F Tae Kwon-Do Association since 1986
Due to Political difficulties, Mr. Shirzai has been residing in Karachi,
Pakistan since 1994. He has been running the Aga Khan Gymkhana Tae kwon-Do
Academy and some other clubs along with his students. His students do also run
some clubs as representative inside Afghanistan.
Mr.
Shirzai has been able to organized several championships, his team
participated several times in International Tae Kwon-Do championships and have
been as regular the first.
Mr. Shirzai's students are in Canada, America, England, France, Germany,
Russia, Iran, Pakistan ... as well Afghanistan now.
